Pitlochry to Callander
Distance 66 miles
A cloudier day, but still dry day. We are convinced the Scottish weather is teasing us and will soon hit us with its full force. Cycled alongside Loch Tay, which you would assume to be flat (23rd Rule of cycling; Routes are never flat), Had coffee at the House of Menzies and lunched by Loch Tay (with Dawn). Dawn had visited Glen Gary and Killiecrankie in the morning. "Nice" off road climb to the Glen Ogle pass followed by a very good downhill stretch on a converted railway line to Lochhearn head. Saw Rob Roy's Grave (Well Eddie did) and had lovely tea and cake at Library teahouse in Balquhidder. The route west of Loch Lubriagh was very rough in places with cattle barring the way. Dawn's car journey diverted at Loch Earn through Crief because of an accident, extra 50 miles. Reached Trossachs Back packers at 5pm. Again had a room to our selves. Excellent stay with a serve yourself breakfast free of charge in the morning. Evening meal at an Indian Restaurant in Callandar.
