Painscastle to Inverness (by Car)

It was a long but fairly uneventful journey up to Inverness. Stopped at the Lazy Trout for breakfast and lunch at a petrol station on the A9 near Perth, as well as a whole bag of Haribo's, crisps and chocolate consumed on route. Eddie & I shared the driving while Dawn map read (slept) in the back, next to the mound of assorted cycling gear and clothes. Dawn & I felt Eddie's driving was a little bit fast on the motorway for the well packed small Clio (As well as us three there was our associated gear and two bikes on the back) so encouraged him to slow down (The screaming helped). Dawn entertained us with her geographical knowledge (It was definitely the River Tay-It wasn't). Listened to CD's, Radio 2 and dull cricket. No real traffic problems, thankfully. Played the Yellow Car Game (Thanks Harvey). Apparently yellow cars are few and far between so who ever sees one shouts yellow car. The slowest person to shout out gets a thump (Needless to say Eddie had the most bruises). Arrived at Inverness Youth Hostel. Eddie & I bunked down in a male dorm (Surprise) and Dawn on a higher level in a female dorm. Dawn was using Eddie's HUGE hockey bag for her 20'ish essential outfits and hence relied on us to carry it to her room (This could become annoying). Went out and obtained provisions for breakfast, sandwiches and all essential Scooby snacks. Dined in a Pizza parlour and went for a drink at Lauders (Fooled by the double glazing that it would be a quiet pub - actually Karaoke bar). Retired relatively early in preparation of the first day's cycling.
